Knee and foot conditions can cause pain, instability and restricted movement. My surgical practice in these areas focuses on treating traumatic or degenerative conditions when conservative treatments are no longer sufficient to maintain satisfactory joint function.

The knee and foot are complex structures that are subjected to significant mechanical stress. Conditions may result from trauma, progressive cartilage wear or anatomical abnormalities.
I treat a range of conditions, including :
- Knee osteoarthritis
- Ligament injuries (cruciate ligaments and collateral ligaments)
- Knee or tibial plateau fractures
- Foot and ankle fractures
- Certain foot deformities
- Post-traumatic conditions
Fractures and other injuries resulting from an accident may require specific care in orthopaedic trauma.
Assessment is based on a clinical examination, evaluation of pain, joint stability and mobility, as well as appropriate medical imaging. This stage helps establish an accurate diagnosis and determine an appropriate treatment plan. Not all conditions require surgery. When surgery is considered, the decision is based on clearly defined medical criteria.
Principles of Surgical Management
Knee surgery may include ligament repair, fracture fixation or, in certain cases of advanced osteoarthritis, knee replacement surgery. Foot surgery may be performed to correct a deformity, stabilise a fracture or treat localised osteoarthritis.
As an orthopaedic surgeon, my approach follows current standards in orthopaedic surgery. Preoperative preparation includes providing the patient with detailed information about the expected benefits, limitations and risks associated with any surgical procedure. Postoperative follow-up is essential to monitor healing and gradually adapt the return to weight-bearing.

After surgery, a rehabilitation programme is recommended to support joint and muscle recovery. Recovery time varies depending on the condition being treated and the type of procedure performed.

Is knee replacement always necessary in cases of osteoarthritis ?
No. Knee replacement is considered when osteoarthritis is advanced and non-surgical treatments are no longer sufficient to control pain.
Can I walk soon after foot surgery ?
The return to weight-bearing depends on the type of procedure performed and is determined during postoperative follow-up.
Do ligament injuries always require surgery ?
No. Some ligament injuries can be treated conservatively depending on their severity and the patient's individual circumstances.
